No Internet Connection Warning
If your computer connects by wire to a router or directly to the Internet through a cable of any kind, make sure that you have not dislodged the connection or unplugged the router. If you connect to the Internet through a wireless connection, make sure that your wireless hub or router still has power.
If PC-cillin Internet Security cannot find a connection to the Internet, first launch Internet Explorer to see if you have really lost your Internet connection.
- If Internet Explorer can open Web sites, check to make sure that you have defined the correct proxy server settings, especially if you connect to the Internet at an office or at school.
- Open the main console and click Other Settings.
- Under Automatic Update, click Settings…
- Compare the information in the fields on the Proxy Settings tab with the Proxy Settings in Internet Explorer (Tools > Internet Options > Connections) and make sure both share the same values. Try copying the functional Internet Explorer settings into the corresponding PC-cillin Internet Security fields.
- If Internet Explorer cannot open Web sites, check your Personal Firewall settings.
- Open the main console and click Personal Network & Firewall Controls.
- Under Personal Firewall, click Settings…
- Highlight the active Personal Firewall Profile and click Edit.
- Try reducing the Security Level.
Note: If that change does not solve the problem, try carefully changing the connection on the Network tab, or editing items on the Program Control and Network Control lists. Always make a note of your original settings before trying different values!
